Safety Locking Shroud Gas Spring
Industrial Gas Springs offers safety locking, or safety shroud, gas springs that utilize a mechanical locking device to lock the gas spring in a fully extended position. They are available in most of our Volume Line gas spring sizes. This type of gas spring is best utilized in conjunction with a standard Volume Line gas spring of the same size and force.

Tension &Traction Gas Spring
Tension Gas Springs Also known as pull type and traction gas springs, these work opposite to extension gas springs. Similar to a screen door closer, they are used to assist in closing covers, gates, and doors. Tension springs can be configured to have ball socket end fittings with ball studs or eyelet type connections. We recommend the ball and socket connections for mounting as this allows for compensation for misalignment of the connection points.

Dampers provide speed and motion control using hydraulic oil damping in either extension, compression, or both directions. Dampers look identical to a gas spring, so care is to be taken when specifying a spring versus a damper. The types of applications that dampers are most commonly used in are lids, doors, covers, or any other object that is needed to move at a controlled speed at a given force.
