Lockable gas springs are equipped with a mechanism that allows the piston rod to be locked at any point along its stroke. This mechanism is actuated by a plunger connected to the rod. When the plunger is pressed, the rod can move freely, functioning like a standard compression gas spring. Releasing the plunger at any position during the stroke immediately locks the rod in place.
Lockable gas springs feature an internal assembly that includes a piston rod, a piston valve, cylinders, guide components, and sealing elements. Pressure within the cylinder is created by a combination of nitrogen gas and hydraulic oil.
